"Bringing the independent venue and promoter community together to a place where folks even knew to get on that first phone call, Zoom and felt comfortable talking and sharing the experience, ultimately led to the Save Our Stages Act and this financial relief so desperately needed for our industry... We couldn’t have done it without [Marauder]."

— Dayna Frank, Owner & CEO of First Avenue and NIVA Board President

Marauder played a pivotal role in the formation of the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA).

In March 2020, Marauder organized a Zoom call as part of the firm’s work running Independent Venue Week in the US, with independent venues and stakeholders dialing in to discuss COVID-19’s disruption of the industry and the potential impact on independent venues. The initial call turned into a weekly occurrence, and NIVA was launched as a direct result of Marauder’s early action.

In 2020, NIVA created and led the #SaveOurStages campaign and successfully lobbied congress for the passage of the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant relief program. The landmark legislation resulted in $16 billion to help save the entertainment industry— the largest public rescue of the arts in U.S. history.

Marauder continues to produce NIVA's annual conference in a different host city each year, including the inaugural event in Cleveland and NIVA '23 in Washington, D.C.
